Our care facilities in Tunisia
Maison de Retraite Tunisie is a placement agency that helps British families settle an elderly relative into a medicalised care facility in Tunisia. We guide you through every step: assessing care needs, choosing the right city, and organising the move.
We work with two types of facility:
- 🏥 a nursing home — 24/7 nursing care for dependent or semi-dependent residents
- 🌿 a senior residence (assisted living) — comfort and services for independent seniors
Where we are today. Our first signed partner is a nursing home in Tunis, open now and welcoming residents. Facilities in Hammamet, Sousse, Monastir, Djerba and Bizerte are planned for 2026. We are honest about this: we never present a facility as open before it is.
Tunis — open now
Our partner nursing home in Tunis is open and welcoming residents today. The Tunisian capital offers a vibrant setting, UNESCO heritage (the medina, the Bardo Museum) and access to the country’s leading hospitals (Charles-Nicolle, La Rabta). An international airport sits about 8 km away, with the beaches of La Marsa and Sidi Bou Saïd around 20 minutes from the city.
The Tunis facility has multilingual care staff, including English-speaking carers, so families back home can stay in close contact. It is well suited to seniors who need attentive medical follow-up, including support for dementia and Alzheimer’s.

How much does a nursing home in Tunisia cost compared with the UK?
As an indicative range, monthly fees are typically 40 to 60% lower than equivalent residential care in the UK, where a nursing home can cost £1,000 to £1,500 per week. We provide a personalised, clearly-indicative quote based on your relative's care needs.
Do you have English-speaking staff and support for dementia or Alzheimer's?
Yes. Our Tunis partner has multilingual care staff, including English-speaking carers, so your family can communicate easily. The nursing home provides 24/7 nursing care suited to dementia and Alzheimer's, with secure, supervised daily routines.
What is the difference between a nursing home and a senior residence?

How far is Tunisia and how does admission work?
Tunisia is roughly a 2.5 to 3 hour flight from the UK, with regular direct services. Admission begins with a free assessment by phone or video; we then match your relative to a suitable facility, organise the paperwork and support the move from start to finish.
